AMD fabs are cranking day and night

FAB36 is fully equipped for K10 production. Those $200 Barcelona CPUs make people happy - except Intelers.

Intel's yield is so low, they can't make native quad core due to high defect density. Intel admits this. It has to wait for 45nm to get reasonable quad core output. Currently, Intel quads are just double cheese burger design -- zero originality. Intel CTO, Dr. Rattner, feels ashamed by Intel engineering. A couple of months ago, a top Intel CPU architect commented that Barcelona is too advanced to be feasible. His logic was that since K10 is too advanced even for Intel, AMD cannot possibly deliver it.

AMD's K10 yield is above 90%, due to the wonders of APM.

And apparently AMD executives who keep leaving the company...

So Sharikou, what you are saying is that in September of 2007 AMD has managed to get 1 fab that can produce CPUs from 300mm wafers at a 65nm process.
That's really great, AMD is now where Intel was in about January of 2006... only 21 months behind!
Oh... you are right... Intel isn't like AMD.... since Intel has a BUNCH of fabs that have been at 65nm for more than a year now, and right now has as at least as much 45nm capacity as AMD has 65nm capacity. I'm sure Intel is really about to just give up and quit at this point.... quit 65nm because it is about to convert over!

... wait 5 minutes ....

OK, now that I'm done laughing at that bullshit (at least this time you were funny instead of being a racist Sharikou) I can comment:
AMD is COPYING Intel next year in introducing MCM versions of its chips because guess what.... Simple Mathematics beats arrogant AMD powerpoint bullshit every day of the week. AMD is going the same MCM route that Intel has already perfected because the K10 yields are absolute shit and it needs to get quads out to the masses, not just as massively underclocked conversation pieces.

In fact, what's even funnier is that AMD actually wishes it had copied Intel EVEN EARLIER: Just read The Inquirer you know, that same "reliable" source that said K10 gets 30 bajillionzilliongajillion 3Dmark points or something.

BUY AMD WORLD CLASS hi performance, energy saving cpus, platforms and video solutions.

Hahhahah what a joke AMD and high performance.......they havent even come close in performance with any one.

Their GPU and CPU are old inefficient and get beaten around by intel and nvidia like they stole something.

Buy AMD if you want more third class websites, delusional powerpoints, crappy CPUs and GPUs and ignorant fanbois willing to mislead people

Absolutely. Barcelona yields are superb. AMD couldn't be happier with them. AMD just isn't releasing faster versions of Barcelona because no one wants them.

If people wanted a 3Ghz Barcelona then AMD would produce it! There won't be any demand for a 3Ghz Barcelona until around Q2'08. Then when AMD can finally make them they'll claim that people now want a 3Ghz Barcelona CPU!

giant you're right.
I've heard that AMD has yields above 120% and that's true that nobody wants Barca above 2GHz.
I would like for example a nice 333MHz quad-core.

I agree with Roborat, Ph.D. He's really not trying anymore... at some point there was a grain of truth (albeit a very tiny grain) in what Sharikou said... but now... well, the proof is in the pudding.

I just found a funny link on amdzone:
http://enterpriseevent.amd.com/amd_05e4/dcdvideo/high.html

It is a little video about how much better dualcore Opteron is compared to Intel ones. The video seems to be from 2005.

At the end of the video they say to check out http://www.sun.com/x64/ to see more information. Guess what is in the spotlight there? Yes, they are the new 4P Xeon machines :)

Though I don't think their morons did you ever think that they are supporting AMD as is their right?

I don't remember such hostility towards Intel during the Netburst days.

Probably because there were no people on Intel side that would write stuff that penix, oneexpert and sharikou write

Correction Sharikou.

AMD yields are actually 100% of the ENTIRE wafer.

there is 0, i repeat 0% die loss in the wafer, even during the cut process.

Even the outer dies which are round on one corner and half the core regenerates and become a full die.

it is AMAZING!!!!!!! AMD's process of regenerative dies is about 200 generations ahead of Intel.

Well there's today's entertainment!

People need to remember that no one wants a quad core now. No one at all. That will change on September 10th.

AMD BK Q2'08.

I was so upset that I made a typo. But that should have nothing to do with AMD and Intel.

Besides, I AM a screenwriter. Funny enough I have never looked at any of your profiles. What does that mean?
