And kindly let me know when retail is the whole market. Retail is only a small (I think its 30% to be exact) of the overall market.
Of course morons like Sharidouche and oneexpert love to spin it as it allows them to think themselves more important than they really are.
Well, that's in the retail sector... you know... computers that are on the shelf at Wal-Mart. People who REALLY know computers don't go and buy one off the shelf.

People said that I overreacted when I said Sharikou & klan all had swastikas carved in their foreheads... looks like I was right again on that count.
It's kind of logical for AMD to be gaining marketshare: They are practically giving their shit away for free, and as noted earlier the "retail" market isn't that big, and is mostly composed of buyers who don't know or care what's inside the case as long as it is $10 cheaper. Hardly a ringing endorsement of AMD quality.
The final point is: I'd rather have a massive profit every quarter like Intel rather than have slightly more marketshare while losing money on every sale. If Hector had actually ever attended a real school he would have learned that AMD is in business to make money... NOT to get some temporary marketshare by dumping CPUs it can't sell for a profit.

Over 30,000 desktops and laptops here, not one is AMD.
In the server rooms over 1000 servers, 70% are Intel, 25% are AMD and the remaining Sun Niagras.
Funny thing is, I remember when AMD was building its plant in Germany, all the desktop computers were Dells. At that time Dell didn't ship an AMD based system.
I think Merlin got his names mixed up... no biggie.
Actually, Lenovo only offers Intel processors in its ThinkCentre M Series... so we don't really have a choice. This gets back to Sharidipshit's original statement that AMD is pretty dominant in the retail segment... this ain't retail.
I'll be the first to admit the desktops that are deployed here are inferior to current-gen AMD processors... they're Pentium Ds... what do you expect? If we truly cared about performance we'd pay a little extra and get C2D processors.

Do you have any number on how AMD Dell PCs/Laptops are selling?
It is not true that chinese and amaricans are smarter. Familiarity with AMD product is almost nonexistent in third world markets. Only recently I started seeing AMD ad in Indian cable News (NDTV) channel. AMD has done a poor job of promotng its products in third world market. Interestingly these third world countries, where celeron still rules, can benefit most from AMD products.

Maybe I should replace my computer with a 4x4 with two AMD video cards. Then I wouldn't even need an oven or stove anymore. Think of the money I could save!

Well AMD does need reliable hardware to run it's second rate fabs. It's no surprise that they used Dell PCs running Intel hardware.
