@13ringinheat: how about 2 nuclear reactors to power 1 Intel Clovrton server, not to mention the environmental impact, smart guy.

Why would he need two nuclear reactors to power a cool running, energy efficient, Clovertown server? We can use two of the 1.86Ghz 50W CPUs or the upcoming 2Ghz 50W CPUs. Keep in mind these are all quad core. If he needs just dual core CPUs he could use the 40W 2.33Ghz. With such cool running CPUs there's no need for heavy duty power.

For a 4x4 with two 125W CPUs OTOH...

From AMD Q2 Conference call:

Chris Daley, JP Morgan
- I guess if this keeps up where you continue to gain a lot of share but you end up losing money still say in three or four quarters, would you guys choose to maybe pull back a little bit and focus more on your more profitable segments and less on market share? How does that sort of work out?

Robert J. Rivet

"The only good factory is a full factory. I think I probably say that every conference call, and so the mission is to sell the factory out and get the most revenue you can for that output."

Dirk R. Meyer

"So really, when we think about how much business we need, it’s how much revenue do we need to generate sufficient gross margins to cover our product R&D and maintain an increased relevance to our customer base, more so than filling a particular factory."

Okay, so the number 2 and 3 guys can't agree on their manufacturing strategy. No wonder AMD is such a mess.

Why Apple Doesn't Do 'Intel Inside’?
..I think this is the way to go to establish a free market. I recently saw a few HP laptops at a store with no processor logo....If Dell does away with the processor logo...their laptops would look much better too.

At least in the mobile space..sticking CPU logos is foolish...If a vendor chooses a particular CPU, I would leave it their good judgment to pick up the righ part for it that does the job (speed, heat, battery etc)...should I care if the vendor is using a Micron SDRAM or a SAMSUNG one?? or a Toshiba HDD or a WD HDD ?? Now if a processor vendor goes on to impair this good judgement , by passing on illegal rebates etc …then we don’t have a Free market.. I think CPU logos should be removed. Intel should be banned from having TV spots and Print ads that appear almost everywhere ..The argument being, the chief audience are not buying CPUs from a drive thru ..or are they : -))

The best news for AMD is that the newly launched 8224SE and 8222 will outperform the current Xeon MP by a significant margin.

Yes, note the word CURRENT. i.e. These Opterons outperform the Netburst based Tulsa Xeon MP CPUs. The difference is nowhere near as significant as you would have us believe.

http://tweakers.net/reviews/661/4

Opteron is 3% faster than Tulsa. But that will soon change; Tigerton quad core is coming with the new Caneland platform. This scales to 32P. As soon as it arrives, AMD's last dominant position is wiped out. Coming this quarter, Intel announced they are shipping now in preparation for a launch that will be either this month or next.

AMD Debt downgraded deeping into junk.

"NEW YORK & CHICAGO, Aug 09, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Fitch Ratings has assigned a 'CCC+/RR6' rating to Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s (AMD) private placement of $1.5 billion 5.75% convertible senior notes due 2012. The 'CCC+/RR6' rating also applies to up to $225 million of additional notes issued within the next 30 days to cover over-allotments. The 'BB-/RR2' rating on AMD's $1.69 billion Term Loan B due 2010 is affirmed and withdrawn, as the company will use net proceeds from today's debt issuance, as well as available cash, to fully repay the term loan. The following ratings are affirmed: --Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'B'; --Senior unsecured debt at 'CCC+/RR6'. The Rating Outlook remains Negative. Approximately $4.1 billion of total debt, pro forma for the repayment of the term loan, is affected by Fitch's actions. "

New techniques to address virtualization with multi-cores should have everyone on the edge of there seat. Why are some apposed to progress? I’ll be just as exited when penryn is in the wild.

I’m amazed that some who love technology and there computer wish AMD to fail. It’s a good thing that Barcelona raises the bar. I can’t wait to see the mighty Intel engine respond with something even better.

Negative? Whenever Intel does anything you guys & onemoron start screaming about 'monopolies', '70's architecture', 'fake benchmarks', 'prefragged', 'Intel BK', etc, etc. When Intel fanboys do the exact same thing you do, why is it all of the sudden 'negativity'? I'm not saying I like it, but you are all a bunch of hypocrites for claiming to be pure when you do the exact same thing.

As for K10... I'm excited to actually see real numbers, but nobody has published any! We already have numbers on Penryn, not only from Intel but from HKEPC too, and more will be coming soon. Considering Penryns are not even supposed to show up until later this fall this does not look good for AMD. In the movie industry when you have an amazing movie, you put it in the hands of reviewers early to have them generate more buzz... but when you have a bomb you don't let them see it.... I think AMD might be doing the same thing. Don't blow that AMD propaganda at me about 'not letting Intel know' what's going on. That might have been useful a year ago, but everybody's going to know when the damn thing ships anyway. AMD is still 2nd rate because they predicate all their actions on Intel. Intel competes with AMD, but Intel does not base its entire strategy on panicky and gimmicky responses to everything AMD does, which is why Intel is #1.

Yes the operative statement being "raising the bar"..... which it certainly is not. AMD has yet to raise the bar in anything ever since their success with the K8. Lets recap the "bar raising" shall we.....
AM2......A turd
65nm....A turd
4x4.....A turd
2900 XT...... very late And a turd
Barcelona......If recent list of failures is anything to go by most likely a turd.

The only thing AMD has been raising the bar in is their exceptional skills with power point unfortunately you cant sell power points to fanbois otherwise they would have made a profit...........

``The plan is that Dirk is the CEO in training,'' he said. ``He's one day going to take my place.''"

The biggest story in these sales ranking numbers for 2006 was the rise of AMD. AMD post 86.1 percent revenue growth versus 2005, an increase that vaulted the company into the Top 10. The Gartner numbers agree closely with the iSuppli numbers that we reported earlier, numbers that also had Intel's revenues down 11 percent in 2006 (Gartner shows a 12 percent decline).

Why is this being posted again and again? We don't care about AMD's financial gains last year (which were all due to buying Ati). What we care about is financial performance now, this year. From the most recent quarter: AMD/ATI revenue = $1.378 billion, net loss $600m. Last year, in Q2'06 revenue is $1.89 billion for combined ATI/AMD. Profit down from $150m to $600m loss.

Now does AMD's financial situation look so great?

AMD is just flogging off $70 dual core CPUs to gain market share. The real money is in mobile and server. Intel is dropping the price of the E2140 to just $64. That will put an end to AMD's firesale.

To Chuckula

I can’t image why AMD would wait so long to release “real numbers”. If your glass is half empty your thinking something must be wrong; if you’re your glass is half full you’re thinking there’s going to be a surprise or some unknown reason to be revealed at the release. My guess is 2ghz is a tad slow and they are reluctant to publish anything.

About the legal battles; Intel doesn’t publish much so most of the info about the case is generated by friends of AMD. I must admit that from my vantage point the world seems to be playing AMD’s song. Legal matters are boring to read so I’m the wrong guy for the question, but here is my take on the subject; if Intel is guilty of charges then they should pay and if there not then AMD should reimburse Intel for the trouble, simple huh.

I like benchmarks, some benchmarks are even more than just marks-on-a-bench.

Intel is one of the worlds greatest companies and will remain #1 because they do a lot of things very well.

Why have there been nothing from AMD this past year? No new CPUs, no new awesome benchmarks? Nothing but a bunc of crappy lawsuites and whiny claims.

If they had benchmarks they'd surely show them. Remember when Hector had benchmark leadership, he'd be rubbing them in Paul's face and challenging INTEL to benchmark duals. I'm sure if he had any benchmarks to be proud of he'd be showing them.

The fact of the matter all AMD can show are "simulated" benchmarks. Real benchmarks from silicon will get beaten by INTEL anyday with Penrym already here and ready to go. That is why AMD shows nothing, because their platform and benchmarks sucks.

All they can do these days is run around and whine

The only thing that trumps AMD's whining and their craptacular products as of late is their awesome ability to make great power point presentations.

The same AMD fanbois who refused to believe actual conroe benchmarks when they were tested at IDF with a variety of apps now believe all the slide shows that show AMD doing decent and with vaporware CPU that AMD deams about......pathetic......

I figured being so close to Barcelona launch everyone should have a brief experience.

Sharikou posted this a few months ago:

AMD says K8L will frag Clovertown by 40% on a wide range of benchmarks. Some think AMD was talking about floating point performance, which is simply wrong.

As I have shown here, a dual core Opteron system outperforms a quad core Clovertown system by 14% on SpecFP_rate. That is, 4 Opteron cores are 14% faster than 8 Clovertown cores. Now, we know a K8L is 3.6x faster than a K8 on FP. This would lead to the conclusion that K8L is about 5x the speed of Clovertown, as far as FP performance is concerned.

So, the 40% performance lead has to be integer performance.

In conlusion, K8L will be 400% faster than Clovertown on FP, and 40% faster than Clovertown on integer.

Watch this AMD interview on K8L yourself. Basically, AMD is saying that K8L is so advanced that nothing in Intel's known roadmap can catch up. In other words, not only Clovertown and Conroe will be fragged, the next generation of Intel is pre-fragged, even with Intel going 45nm.

AMD will soon launch four K8L parts, the fastest will be clocked at 2.5GHZ, the slowest will be about 2GHZ. Therefore, within the AMD line, the performance spread is 25%. This means the slowest AMD chip will be at least 15% faster than the fastest Intel chip.

Intel BK by 2Q08, that what I said in 2006, and that is what will happen in 2Q08.

So K10 has apparently prefragged Penryn, and even Nehalem! And also, 40% faster per clock in integer, and 400% faster in floating point!

Oh and, best of all, Intel will BK in Q2'08!

Tell me Sharikou, what will you do come Q2'08 and Intel is still posting large profits?

I can't wait until Q2'08.

I posted this earlier, but I'll repeat it for oneexpert's sake.

AMD X2 2300...45 watts

AMD X2 3600...65 watts
AMD BRISBANES
AMD BARCELONA 3ghz

ATI/AMD video cards

2300/2350 are just low power versions of their existing product. This is nothing really new at all. They're not in any way faster. 5600 is from last year and uses 89W, not 65W. (according to AMD's own website. 6000+ is nothing special, just a 200mhz speedbump of an existing product. It was from far earlier in the year as well. Finally, you forgot the 250W 4x4!

Barcelona 3GHz? Could you please provide a link to an online store where I can find one? I looked for a 3Ghz quad core but all I could find was this!

Q6600 quad...105 watts
QX6700.......130 watts

QX6850.......130 watts

These numbers are mostly correct. The new stepping of the Q6600 and Q6700 have only a 95W TDP though. They are all Quad Core CPUs. All AMD has is dual core.

HAhahahha notice how the one retard compares dual core AMD to quad core Intels......lets use AMD's quad cores to compare.....ohhh thats right they only exist on power point slides.

Well lets compare something close then.....

AMD FX72 "quad"core 650watts at load!!!

Not satisfied lets look at another product that AMD just recently put out......

AMD 2900XT 328 Watts at load!!!!

Compared to the cool 268 watts of the Nvidia 8800GTS which also happens to beat AMD in most benchmarks.....

Buy AMD burn down Earth.

Buy Intel and Nvidia and save Earth plus help bankrupt a whiny bitch company and silence their dumb fanbois forever.....its a win win situation!!!!

10:21 PM, August 12, 2007
Blogger Unknown said...

Further, to the 6000+ being fragged by E6750, it still gets fragged while using 125W when E6750 uses only 65W. Even worse for AMD; the E6850 is even faster and is still using only 65W.

You can see nobody holds a candle to the intel space heaters.

BUY AMD energy saving cpus, platforms and video cards.

Yep. We all know how energy efficient AMD's 250W 4x4 platform is! It was so great that TechReport said:

Power use on the Quad FX systems is... embarrassing.

AMD also is well known for their space heater GPUs! The HD 2900 XT caused HardOCP to say:

The Radeon HD 2900 XT is an inefficient power hog. Using the 2900 XT card will cost you more power than a GeForce 8800 GTX while delivering to you sub-8800 GTS performance. That is not a small difference in terms of performance per watt.

So AMD is making energy saving CPUs like the 6000+ that uses 92% more power than a comparable Intel dual core CPU. Or the 4x4 platform that uses 92% more power than the QX6850! Or maybe even the space heater GPUs that use more power than Nvidia's fastest GPU yet are slower than the GTS; Nvidia's 3rd fastest GPU.

C2Ds 2 core or 4 core are reworked pentium 3s and thats all they will ever be, they have no computing future.

C2D is the latest compared to a Model T AMD. Usually progression means better performance. And if AMD can not provide that then they are the model T of the semi conductor.

When AMD's best is late to the market and competes with Intel's and Nvidia's mid price point segments you know things are sad.

Mean while intel launched the Xeon X5365 is a 3GHz quad core chip which aids global warming with a power sucking 120 watts of energy use and sells for $1172, big heat and big price intel trade marks.

AMD's fastest Opteron costs over $2000! AMD Opteron 8224 SE $2,149 using 125W of TDP.

Why did you ignore the 2Ghz 50W version? That's just 12.5W for each core. AMD's low power Opteron needs 34W per core. In other words, Opteron is using 2.72X more power per core. Pathetic. AMD is only good for spaceheater technology.

Remember, Quad FX power use is emabarrasing according to TechReport, and the HD 2900 XT video card is "an inefficient power hog" according to HardOCP.

The difference between AMD and Intel is simple. AMD might show off a quad core CPU; but with Intel will actually let you buy one! Isn't that a crazy idea?!

AMD is stuck in the past; not even a ford model T. With a crappy 3 issues wide core, 64bit SSE only, no shared cache of any kind, and only dual core cpu AMD's cpus are more like a horse and cart compared with Intel's Ferrari CPUs!

New Intel Server Processors Provide Ultimate Choice in Speed and Energy Efficiency

Spanning 2.0 GHz at Only 50 Watts to 3.0 GHz, Customers Can Now Achieve Even Higher Performance with Greater Power Savings

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 13, 2007 – Continuing with its flurry of delivering quad-core server processors and other products ahead of schedule, Intel Corporation launched two quad-core Intel® Xeon® processors. The new processors boast unprecedented combinations of performance and energy efficiency, along with a pricing strategy to move the enterprise industry to multi-core systems. The new Intel® Xeon® Processors X5365 and L5335 also contain new virtualization capabilities.

Designed for companies running performance-critical server and workstation applications, the Intel Xeon Processor X5365 is the industry's first 3.0 GHz quad-core processor to fit inside a standard 120 watt power envelope. The X5365 also features front-side bus (FSB) speed of 1333MHz.

With the energy-sipping Intel Xeon Processor L5335, Intel is delivering higher performance quad-core processors designed for servers that require optimal space and power utilization. The processor includes a 2.0 GHz clock speed and 1333MHz FSB within a 50 watt power envelope – or just 12.5 watts per processing core.

"Intel innovation continues to enable us to be the multi-core trailblazer providing a choice of quad-core products for those craving the highest performance, lowest power and all points in between," said Kirk Skaugen, vice president of Intel's Digital Enterprise Group, and general manager of the Server Platforms Group. "Moore's Law, Intel's silicon design and process technology and the Core microarchitecture are allowing us to deliver even greater levels of end-user value by essentially enabling price parity between dual and quad-core Intel Xeon processors at a given clock frequency, further accelerating quad-core market adoption."

The processors are ideal for conducting simultaneous design and analysis transactions, improving rendering performance and managing faster analytics for industries such as financial services. Both processors are easily "drop-in" compatible with select existing Intel server platforms.

Using the SPECint_rate_base2006* benchmark, which measures integer throughput, a Fujitsu-Siemens* PRIMERGY RX300 S3 server based on the quad-core Intel Xeon Processor X5365 scored 98.9, setting a new world record1. Using the SPECjbb™2005* benchmark, a Dell* PowerEdge* 1950 server based on the quad-core Intel® Xeon® Processor X5365 broke the previous record with a score of 238,472 business operations per second1.

A number of systems vendors are supporting the new processors, including Dell*, Fujitsu Siemens Computers*, HP*, IBM*, SGI*, SuperMicro*, Rackable Systems*, Verari* and more than 40 others.

Enhanced Capabilities
Intel also integrated advanced technology capabilities into the Intel Xeon Processors X5365 and L5335 to streamline virtualization and further improve energy efficiency. In addition to Intel® Virtualization Technology, which increases the efficiency of virtualization solutions and enables 64-bit guest operating system support, the processors also feature new Intel Virtualization Technology processor extensions for improved interrupt handling in virtualization of 32-bit Microsoft Windows* Operating Systems.

As part of Intel's efforts to ensure that system builders can meet energy efficiency requirements, and end-users can continue to manage their overall energy consumption, these processors include new system-transparent energy smart technology that reduces idle power usage by up to 50 percent.

In addition to including this technology on the new quad-core processors, Intel is driving its entire volume server processor line to take advantage of this new lower idle power utilization.

Price in 1,000 unit quantities (as of Aug. 9, 2007)
Intel Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor X5365 3.0GHz 1333MHz 120W $1172
Intel Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor L5335 2.0GHz 1333MHz 50W $380

AMD is finished. AMD BK Q2'08.

AMD is up to it again, unethical business practices!

They send Business Week two computers with totally different graphics solutions. What's with that?

If I run a few tests of my own, I'll use my secondary E6600 system with a Geforce 7600 GT to represent Intel. For AMD's system I'll be sure to install the $30 Radeon X300 SE I have here as a spare graphics card. By AMD's standards, these tests will be completely fair. I will, of course, ensure that the majority of tests are graphical and taxing on the GPU!

Now those benchmarks are gone; instead they've replaced them with new ones that feature no Intel CPUs.

The company believes that its upcoming 45 nm Core 2 Duo product line will keep a "broad leadership" position in the industry, Intel told employees that Barcelona "may challenge us on specific server/workstation benchmarks."

Intel aims to regain "clear performance and energy-efficiency leadership", lol, like they ever had this leadership. BS. It's Intel copying whatever AMD is doing, yet again.

Wrong. It's still 90nm. AMD's 65nm process is plagued with leakage issues and can't go past 2.6Ghz.

It's slower than the E6850: http://my.ocworkbench.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=66558

The only place it's faster is ScienceMark (written by AMD employees; hardly a fair test) and memory bandwidth tests that make use of intergrated memory contoller. Even at 3.2Ghz vs. 3Ghz for E6850 it still gets fragged all over. Don't forget oneexpert; AMD's power saving 6400+ will need 92% more power than the E6850.

It's Intel copying whatever AMD is doing, yet again.

Yeah, it's clear that AMD is leading the industry. First with quad core, first with DDR3 support, first with Direct X 10 video cards, first with 65nm and 45nm high-k process coming this year. Oh wait. That's Intel and Nvidia!

So onlyamd, why don't you list a few of the great innovations that AMD has come up with since say, the start of 2006, 18 months ago? These would be unique things introduced well before another company did.

I'll give you a few examples of what Intel has done:-

-Core Micro Architecture
-First 65nm process (technically this was late '05, but you couldn't buy 65nm CPU until January '06)
-Frist quad core CPUs for both desktop and server
-First dual core notebook CPU
-First DDR3 support

Anyway, it appears E6850 is about 12% faster than the E6750, and it easily bested AMD's antique 6400+ horse and cart crap.

Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 3600+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 3800+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 4000+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 4200+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 4400+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 4600+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 4800+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 5000+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 5200+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 5400+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 5600+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 6000+
Intel E6850 is faster than AMD 6400+
Intel QX6850 is faster than AMD 4x4 FX-70
Intel QX6850 is faster than AMD 4x4 FX-72
Intel QX6850 is faster than AMD 4x4 FX-74

Intel is faster than all of the AMD cpus and operating at 3 ghz.

You can clearly see the antique AMD CPUs aging design is being outperformed by Intel superior designs.

Looks like AMD is running out of product markets and with the launch of Intel Penryn will find itself in troubled waters.

Watch all the fanboys fud, spin, and whine.

Buy Intel and Nvidia and save Earth plus help bankrupt a whiny bitch company and silence their dumb fanbois forever.....its a win win situation!!!!

Tick Tock Tick Tock

AMD is going bankrupt

AMD is only in the x86 business because of a lawsuite. Their only chance to stay in business is if they win another lawsuite. What a company heah... only there because of lawyers .

They perform so well that they demo machines without letting anyone do benchmarks.

Their CPUs perform so well that they are priced in the mid hundreds for their next great design.

What a joke of a company. Its fitting its run by a whiny mexican who ruined Motorola in his past life

Its actually fitting that AMD named their new CPU 6400+ "black edition".

Their entire K8 line should be the "black" and blue edition after the whooping C2D put on them after its release.

News Flash: Eskimos most likely to buy 6400+, sources report that the CPU heats up entire village during winter

Kudos to AMD for releasing another very slow and energy efficient processor which joins their already energy efficient line up of 5600+, 6000+, 6400+, FX70, FX72, FX74 and their newest energy efficient GPU 2900XT.

Barcelona will soon be added to the above energy efficient line up running at a blazing 2.0ghz consuming 95W where as the Intel runs the same ghz at 50W.

WOW what power savings AMD now i know why you delayed that turd, this way you can release a processor that takes 90% more energy to run at the same clock speed as Intel GREAT JOB!!!!

Newsflash: Hector Ruiz confirms next position. He will take over the position as CEO of Landscaping in the Santa Clara district coincidentally mowing the lawns of once competitor Intel after barcelona's paper launch

One expert says: Intel is in a disparate struggle to try and maintain a performance lead but is losing ground fast to the superior forces of AMD.

Thats a lie Intel has been on top ever since C2D released

AMD has been in relentless performance pursuit chasing intel right out of the semiconductor market.

Thats a partial lie yes AMD has been pursuing Intel in terms of performance but chasing Intel out of the semiconductor industry with Antique K8s is laughable

AMDs release of the 3.2 ghz X2 6400+ has caused intel total humiliation.

Thats a lie 6400+ cant even compete with Intel's fifth best processor

Intel has pinned all its hopes on a 45 nm die shrink to halt the continual erosion of its performance crown but most experts agree it will not be enough to save intel from the superior AMD design technologies.

Thats a lie intel doesnt need 45nm its 65nm core 2 duo already hand AMD its ass on a platter kinda like how i do with you

MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK$$$$$$
Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition Reviewed
Posted by: Chris_Tom on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 04:41 PM

Lies again its not the bang for the buck losing to a cheaper and more efficient processor E6750 in every segment

Anyway, it appears to be about 2% to 12% faster than the 6000+, and it may
just best the E6750,

No it doesnt E6750 wins pretty much hands down.

and gave the E6850 a run for the money besting it in sciencemark 2.0 totally.

No it doesnt sciencemark is the only benchmark that has always favored AMD that it does good in everything else 6400+ looks like garbage in

The amazing X2-6400+ will sell around $220 while its aging competition the e6800 is $1045 and the e6850 is $286 so the X2-6400+ is totally more bang for the buck and it humiliates the aging c2d pentium 3s.

Thats another lie X26400+ competes with a $212 E6750 which comes WITH HEAT SINK and beats the x26400+ in every category you can muster up

AMD has conquered the price performance race with a full fast line of superior cpu products, platforms, and video solutions.

You are a liar once more pulling shit out of your ass without any proof to back it up

Intel is left with only a couple of cpus in the performance race but they are power hungry, very expensive cpus that no one can afford to buy.

As compared to AMD with NO CPUS in the performance race with EVERY CPU that is supposed to perform taking up Twice the power to still be beaten by a more efficient intel

The release of the X2-6400+ along with the quad barcelona has caused the unthinkable actions at intel, they may actually have to update there ancient technology to survive.

LOL you are a lying sack of shit

Intel failed to make the comeback they promised when they released the c2d line up due to old antique designs and bad platforms. Intels promise to crush AMD with the c2d line has backfired and now AMD is crushing intel. Intels reliance on the antique pentium 3 designs appears to be the root cause of the company's eminent demise.

What a bunch of lies can you show me one website which shows AMD's best topping Intel's best in the majority of benchmarks

2 TIMES WINNER OF CUSTOMER CHOICE AWARDS
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail
Customer Choice Award2x Winner of Customer Choice Award - CPUs / Processors

Awards must come cheap nowadays when turds like 6000+ start getting them notice how those awards are customer choice and has nothing to do with performane

AMD continues to provide innovative energy saving cpus and platforms while increasing market share every quarter.

Yes 6400+, 6000+, 4x4, 2900XT all a bunch of late turds Oh the innovation increasing market share by having yard sales they cant pay people to buy their crap so they have to give it away to get market share

It appears AMD will stand alone as the most popular leading semiconductor technology supplier by the end of 2007.

Yes most popular semiconductor industry with less than 20% marketshare what a joke

You can count on AMD, IBM, and VIA to meet your future computing needs with state of the art semiconductors and solutions.

Yep like that 1.9ghz processor which took AMD soo long to come up with what great innovation.

BUY AMD energy saving performance cpus, platforms, and video solutions.

conclusion one expert is a lying sack of shit with nearly all his posts based of lies

FX 74 blows intel quad out of the water.

When the quad-FX first came out it was unfairly benchmarked on xp32 sp2. xp32 is not as NUMA aware (Non-Uniform Memory Access or Non-Uniform Memory Architecture) then the latest operating systems. due to the advance memory architecture of the quad FX this drastically crippled its performance. when properly tested on Vista and or xp64(server2003 core) the score had a dramatic turnaround and ran neck and neck with intels flagship quad core. The FX 74 is excellent for gaming and for DVD encoding the AMD quad-FX wins hands down.. you must run vista64 ultimate or winxp64 or 2003 server os or higher to allow the quad-FX to stretch its legs.

Top 6 Desktop CPUs
From Mark Kyrnin,
Your Guide to PC Hardware / Reviews.
1. AMD Performance - The Athlon 64 FX-74 certainly is much less expensive than the Intel Core 2 Extreme processors, but it does require additional specialized hardware. Unlike the standard AM2 socket design, the FX-74 uses the Socket F design this requiring a different motherboard from the other Athlon 64 processors. It is the fastest one can currently get from AMD though.

According to recent reviews the FX 74 completely outperforms intels quad core when coupled with recent vista 64 bit software.

According to pc hardware reviews the FX74 quad is the number 1 best buy for value and high performance hardware.

AMD schedules to launch two 2-way Opteron (Barcelona) server processors on September 10 this year, according to sources at server makers.
The Opteron 2348 and 2350 will have core frequencies of 1.9GHz and 2.0GHz and will be priced at US$320 and US$390 in 1000-unit tray quantities, respectively. In October, AMD will launch the 2.2GHz Opteron 2354 with 95W TDP and a price of US$610 in 1000-unit tray quantities, however this processor should actually appear in the channel later this month, noted the sources.

The motherboard the FX74 uses is upgradeable to a 8 core with opteron 2300 series (barcelona) which will be 23.75 watts per core.

Just one more case where AMD can be scaled up while intel c2ds can not be scaled at all.

Meanwhile the new AMD X2 6400+ sure puts the intel line up to shame on price and performance.

The AMD X2 6000+ still a two time winner of consumers choice at Newegg, rated best by the buyers and users.

BUY AMD energy saving cpus, platforms, and video solutions.

Oneexpert just copy and pasted that drivel from (of all places!) a newegg customer review!

Here's some real results from TechReport with the stupid NUMA XP issues these AMD fanboys keep bringing up.

When the Quad FX platform first debuted, we were disappointed with its very high peak power consumption and its lack of cheaper, more power-efficient motherboard options. We also had some concerns about whether a NUMA platform was being used optimally in Windows XP. Now, time has passed, Vista has debuted, and we've gotten our hands on a pair of FX-70s, but not enough has changed. We were right to suspect that the lower speed grade Quad FX processors might not have the outrageous peak power consumption of the FX-74s. The FX-70s are much tamer on that front, to the tune of roughly 130W less. But Vista's NUMA-aware kernel hasn't allowed Quad FX to gain much, if any, performance ground on Intel's quad-core processors. And the nice-sounding idea of a pair of FX processors for $599 doesn't truly translate into a good value for a quad-core system.

AMD Denies Reports of Barcelona Ship Date Slippage
Wednesday, Aug 15, 2007, 8:35 P.M.

Reports in The Inquirer and a separate British technology blog citing OEM sources as saying they've been alerted to expect delays in shipments of its new quad-core Barcelona CPUs in all but the 1.9 GHz "HE" lower-power frequencies, were soundly denied this morning to BetaNews by an AMD spokesperson.

"As per our previous guidance," the spokesperson commented, "production on the 2.0 GHz parts has started, and we are on track to ship them for revenue this month." The official retail release date for Barcelona processors remains September 10, when customers are advised to expect standard edition processors at 2.0 GHz and low-power editions at 1.9 GHz. This corresponds with initial release dates announced in June and confirmed in early July.

The British blog also mentioned the Taiwanese industry daily DigiTimes as a source for its delay news, though in recent months, its track record for predicting delays based on statements by its motherboard manufacturing sources, has been mediocre if not poor.

So much for the credibility of Digitimes & some posters who i won't name.

BUY AMD

Support a company down on its luck lost billions, bilions in debt, shipped manufacturing overseas, relies on subsidise to build manufacturing, reliese on others to do R&D as they are too incompetent to do it themselves, crappy products that they have to sell at garge sale prices, new products late, new product slow, no viable financials to continue the technology treadmill, run by an ex leader of another failed semiconductor company, leader who's only strategic initiative is to sue his competitor.

Yes buy AMD so they can continue to limp along. Maybe they can win a lawsuite against INTEL and win a few hundred million dollars. That won't even pay the interest on their multi-billion dollar debt.

You AMD cock suckers are like people I knew in the 70's buying AMC products. Beer drinking idiots with double digit IQs who couldn't figure out they were eating shit because they were told it was candy.

Oneexpert you are about as expert as said PhD, keep up the good posts. Every one of your dribbles prove you a match for the "Ph"ony "D"octorate. You sure you aren't really Sharikou himself trying to drive more activity. The "Ph"ony "D"octorate hasn't had much to spew lately.

AMD's only hope for its shit eating fans is the same as AMC to get bought out. It won't change the fact they like AMC will still be putting crap out. I still laugh at the fools who buy Jeeps on image thinking they are getting quality.
