Tigerton CPUs with Caneland chipset ready to frag AMD: http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/33677/135/

All the way up-to 32P, for 128 cores.

AMD is losing market share in the lucrative workstation business: http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/33688/122/

No one wants antiquated AMD CPUs or quad core CPUs stuck at 2GHz.

AMD BK Q2'08.

Quote from the link above -

Intel acknowledged that AMD "has gained market share versus Intel for several quarters based on MP platforms and its Hypertransport architecture,"

Caneland is just "key to helping turn this AMD momentum." Unfortunately, with 8-way Barcelona is likely more power efficient and cost effective than any Caneland solution. For multi-socket servers, Intel needs Nehalem today.

Or maybe not... since there are stupid buyers everywhere. :)

See the dual core duel http://enterpriseevent.amd.com/amd_05e4/index.html?movie=dcd%20

Woodcrest is destroyed by Opterton. This humiliation will just get worse for Intel once Barcelona is launched. Barcelona will beat Intel's Clovertown CPU by at least 20%.

AMD K10 benches starting to leak: K10 20% slower than Clovertown clock for clock.

Another awesome job AMD i think the AMD fanbois had confused reverse hyperthreading for reverse progress which is pretty much what AMD is good at nowadays.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=157136

Read it and weep you amd retards. AMD's execs left for a reason and AMD has been hush hush about this crap for a reason as well.

AMD turd brown barcelona coming soon at blazing speeds of barely 2.0ghz..........and wont even be able to match intel's year old technology.....

AMD the smarter choice if you like slow inefficient CPUs and GPUs.

Nvidia Readies New “G92” Graphics Processing Unit for November.
Nvidia Set to Update Graphics Chips Family in Two Months

Earlier this year Michael Hara, vice president of investor relations at Nvidia Corp., said that the company’s forthcoming flagship product would have peak computing power close to 1TFLOPs, about two times more compared to the current code-named G80 chips, which is used on the GeForce 8800 GTS, GTX and Ultra products.

While AMD struggles to compete with Nvidia's fourth best current generation card nvidia already ready to move on. I wonder how long before we get to see something from AMD....... they were already six months late i predict another 8 months before they release another lackluster product true to AMD's current tradition......

Buy AMD if you like products which are late and slower than their competitor's year old technology

You've got it all wrong! If AMD doesn't make it, it's clear that no one wants it! After all AMD only makes what it's customers want.

No one wants 3Ghz Barcelona, or 8800 Ultra competitor! :-P

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. It should be absolutely awesome. Also a lovely new Yorkfield CPU at sometime, since my P5B Deluxe motherboard is fully 45nm CPU ready.

Where can I buy Barcelona Opterons now that they're out?

I don't see them on Newegg, or Microcenter, or ZipZoomFly, or even that charming British site.

Where can I buy this product that's "out now"?

Also, where can I find REAL benchmarks done by someone with a reputation?

I think Giant is right. AMD does knows what we want, and we obviously don't want to buy Barcelona right now. We probably craving more marketing fluff...

2GHz Yorkfield to cost $204

http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2855&Itemid=35

Since Barcelona is 20% IPC lower than Clovertown all Barcelona (since Barcelona is stuck at 2Ghz) will be sold for below $204.

AMD is finished. BK in Q2'08.

Absolutely. I'd love to see another presentation from Randy Allen explaining why Intel is evil for using a FSB, and not developing a "native" quad core at 65nm.

Just for good measure they might want to include some made up crap like 'Barcelona is going to blow away the existing Clovertown product in every dimension!' or 'Barcelona will deliver for many workloads performance in excess of 40% beyond what Clovertown can.'

Forget new products, what we want are these speeches with AMD's award winning power point presentations to go with them!

This is like coming to a kindergarten class. GROW UP!!!

First you say there's no benchmarks and then you say that you now the IPC is lower.

What a dink!!

how about you learn to read the previous posts before you jump to ass-u-mptions.

Buy AMD if you expect a company's future products to be slower than its competitor's current ones

Tigerton is out, 2.47x faster than AMD's fastest CPUs in SPECjbb2005. Intel nows frags AMD totally in every processor category: Desktop, Mobile and server (SP,DP and MP).

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/05/intel_launches_core_based_mp_xeon/

Barcelona can't save AMD as it is still 20% behind Intel on IPC. Even the 1.86Ghz Clovertown is more than enough to frag Barcelona. To compete with 3Ghz Clovertown AMD would need a 3.6Ghz Barcelona.

AMD is finished. AMD BK by Q2'08.

Hey Doc,

That's gonna be a neat trick, getting 2 CPU's in a single socket.

The 1U server in question only has 1 socket:

"Processor
Single 1207-pin socket F
Supports AMD Opteron™ 2000 series processors
Integrated 144-bit DDR2 memory controller"

But then again, you are super PhD man, so you can probably do it!

Going to a dual socket (required for 2 processors by the way), will cost another $300.
