You can see that the industry has not fallen for Intel's propaganda this time. Benchmarks don't matter unless the real world performance matches up. The line is already forming to purchase Barcelona.
3Q2007 is confirmed. The clockspeed could have been a smidge higher, but 2.4GHz should be quite interesting. This is good news though, they will probably hit 2.6 by the end of the year.
Am I missing something? I see marketing speak and third party literature about availability and speeds(which is also a month old, btw).
Have anything of substance?
3rd quarter?
I thought AMD was always saying mid-year.
who cares? seriously looks like AMD's K10 is losing every benchmark to C2Q. AMD seriously BK Q1 2008
AMD also claimed that R600 would launch in Q1'07. They then claimed they were delaying it so they could launch a whole family of products at once. They then claimed that AMD doesn't do paper launches.
Yet, in mid May, AMD launched paper launched a whole lineup of GPUs. Only the HD2900 XT was available on launch. That totally contradicts what they said. AMD has a low credibility rate now.
I'll believe it when I see it.
Sharikou is also constantly making claims that Pat Gelsinger will be jobless and now homeless! Sharikou likely did work for Intel, and Pat Gelsinger probably had something to do with Sharikou's leaving Intel.
At any rate, a high executive like him would have millions in Intel stock. (which is righ up at 52-week high BTW)
AMD BK Q2'08.
Uhhh, typo in title of blog entry?
Babbelfish Bullshit to English translator:
"Launch in Q3" (Original BS)
"Launch annoucement at the very end of Q3 with 'volume'\any at all coming at the end of Q4" (In English)
I think Ph(ake)d needs to comment on the buzz floating around that AMD is seriously considering a move out of the chip fabrication business, focusing its efforts entirely on chip design.
I also think Ph(ake)d needs to take a reading lesson and stop being a fanboi.
Penix should just kill himself.
Sharikou will probably be sued along with AMD management for pumping AMD when it was well known AMD was collapsing. Here are the latest news:
1. FAB30 in Dresden is being shopped, AMD is looking for a buyer
2. The NY fab will not be built unless AMD finds a partner
3. FAB36 yields on 65 nm dual core is dismal 30%, Barcelona yields are around 10% (cannot get all 4 cores in quad die to parametrically match...sheesh)
4. AMD/IBM alliance is at its lowest point, with 45 nm not working
5. AMD has started the process of outsourcing to TSMC (process debug, SOI qual)
not looking pretty for AMD, expect 20% layoffs
Well I hope that Q3 means July as to be honest it would nice for the wait to be over and to actually see ther performance in the flesh. I'm guessing late August though as more realistic.
As the advertising and marketing spiel from the customers is promising 2.4GHz I hope that can be the launch speed with overclocks to at least 2.6GHz for us home users.
Finally if Patty does need a new home maybe he can buy and live in the empty FAB 36? After all, only real men have pre-FAB homes :)

That about sums it all up. However, for those here talking up K10.
1. The chip will not launch in volume until October. B02 steppings were just sent to major board partners with base speeds at 1.8GHz, a few suppliers received 2.0GHz. AMD is "expecting" reach 2.2GHz by launch but expect the majority of chips to be around 2.0GHz for volume customers.
2. Expect their new asset light strategy to result in a 27% employee layoff plan to be announced in July. The only dancing in the hallways at AMD right now is if the employee got an interview at Intel. Believe me, I know. ;)
3. Going Fabless is a last ditch effort by the current AMD management team to keep the private equity firms away, or more like the ability to keep their jobs as nobody will hire them after this quarter.
nobody will hire them after this quarter.
This is not so true. I'm sure Intel could use more janitors.

Its pleasing to see how a "nonfud" company has taken their time in developing another top of the line cpu. Benchmarks mean diddly to 99% of buyers. I've chose to jump over the X2-6000 & buy the latest from AMD when available. No matter how much Intel & their fanbois chomp at the bits & spread untruths would never change my mind. In my opinion they are the America's #1 most devious companies, Microsoft being 2nd. AMD all the way...Now here comes the "FUD" Open wide!!!!!
AMD doesn't FUD?
Are you fucking on CRACK? The 2900 anyone???
Original plans for R600 launch: September last year
AMD: R600 will ship in Q1'07
AMD: R600 is ready, we've just delayed it so we can launch all our DX10 products at once
AMD: We don't do paper launches!
May 15: AMD paper launches a whole series of DX10 parts (aside from the HD2900 that was available).
Pathetic. AMD is not to be trusted. We've seen before, a 2P clovertown system frags 4P barcelona system by 30%.
AMD BK Q2'08.
WHAT I FIND FUNNY IS THAT THIS GUY HAS YOU ALL RUNNING AROUND LIKE CHICKENS WITH YOUR HEADS CUT OFF.
MOST OF THESE POSTS GO ABOVE 100 REPLIES, WITH JUST A SENTENCE.
THIS IS SERIOUS COMEDY RELIEF.
Though I don't think you can blame AMD for Sharikou's predictions. AMD had always said sampling in June (Computex), systems in July (not here yet) and volume in August(sounds the same to me).
ALL HAIL THE DUOPOLY!!

As is said so commonly when it's good, can you provide links to all of that.
