Intel to slash its own throat on K10 launch

K10 is the killer. K10 will have 40% performance lead. Intel will sell the 3GHZ E6850 Conroe at $266, down from the $1000 price today. But, in reality, Con6850 will be 40% slower and worth no more than $100.

AMD won a decisive round in this benchmark, 23:0. The Intel system crapped out.
On video quality, AMD system wins by 56: 35.

Intel slashing its own throat lol? They're simply pushing the dual cores out of the high end and replacing them with quad core. Low end quad core at $266. The new extreme QX6800 (2.93 GHz quad core) is expected to be $999. http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38171

Objective? Cripple AMD on price.

The average Intel chip cost is $40.

They will still earn money, and still have processors selling for higher than $266.

This is just a sign that the price war won't end at once.

Let's see, the first link is article about Intel price cuts strangling Barcelona.

The second link is about playing games with integrated graphics. And the Intel system was faster.

The third link was comparing video quality between Intel and Nvidia integrated graphics again.

How does this make AMD supperior again?

Doctor,
While you're posting, how an article about the 50 watt quad cores Intel announced today.

Sharidouch subscribes to the old "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit" mantra...

So - what was your job before you were fired from Intel, there pretender? Janitor? Cafeteria Bus Boy?

I knew there was a reason why I filed this site under humor in my list....

AMD CPU's cost more for same performance, therefore it is a privilege to own one.

That's great news!

AMD has kept very silent lately. Why, I'm not too sure. So given this fact, I also knew that the first reactions (or lack of) would come from Intel.

Given that the release is in a few months, I was getting worried... Intel wasn't reacting.

Intel has always had some kind of corporate spying on AMD. This is tolerated corporate behavior. Just as AMD probably has its spies on Intel also.

But a 75% price drop is the first sign that Barcelona will be what AMD has stated AND most important, it should be on schedule. Otherwise Intel would NEVER had dropped prices by so much so soon.

VERY good news!

As Barcelona won't have mass availiability for quite some time I doubt that would be the main reason for price drop. Intel has said it wants to win back marketshare from AMD and I think this is the main reason for such an agressive price drops. Barcelona can't get a significant portion of marketshare before mass production and according to AMD that will start in Q108

AMD is finished. With these price cuts, AMD will have to drop the price of the FX-62 down to $130 to stay competitive.
