A more hapless Intel rushes unproven Woodcrest

We have yet to see Dempsey in the wild and Sossaman 32 in action. Now, Intel claims it will ship Woodcrest in June, just one month away. With AMD taking 27% of server market, Intel is reacting in a very frightened and disordered fashion.

All new products are pretty much unproven.

of course this is in response to AMD moving up their dates for AM2 release. I can't imagine that they'd rush the release if they actually thought that their chip/platform were inferior.

It will be interesting to see what AMD will do. The converse I would think would be true too, that Intel is rushing AMD to release their prodcuts earlier.

Great for the consumer.

Servers platforms need months of validation.

In recent releases, Intel has said that it also has answers to AMD's next generation. This is interesting because very few people have any specs on AMD's next generation, never mind K8L, which is an evolution of the K8.

Has the race ever been this exciting?

Intel doesn't even have answer to AMD's current generation. Woodcrest is the same outdated FSB design.

I think frightened and ordered is a better term than frightened and disordered.

You cannot right off Intels Woodcrest chip yet until it has either succeeded or failed in the field no matter what bus technology it has.

As Sharikou Phd said, the chip is just one month away. Lets wait two months, see the benchmarks, see the comparatives against netburst and against current AMD products. Then, in two more months against AM2, and THEN say whatever about the proc's quality.

Yest, the race is more exciting than ever.
