Thoughts on AMD's Rembrandt Laptop Benchmarks
AMD is doing so well on all fronts. EPYC is killing Xeon in datacenter.
AMD's more 50% share of the FPGA market will surely generate a multiplicative expansion of its products and market share.
But I am noticing a trend by the reviewers and wondering whether they are being paid by team blue.
In the Rembrandt laptop reviews, those 3 lb AMD laptops are compared to 6.4 pound Intel Alder Lake ones, as if they belong to the same catgeory. This is totally unacceptable. In any laptop, the CPU+RAM+NVME storage has about the same small weight. That 3 pounds of extra weight in the Intel machine is largely for handling the excessive heat and larger battery. The 6.x pound Intel laptop is heavier than some desktop PCs. Anyone carrying such a bulky machine in Starbucks will surely draw some scornful looks from the civilized coffee drinkers, and will probably be pushed outside when its loud fans starts emitting shrieking noises.
Why are reviewers doing such invalid benchmark comparisons? They can't fool their readers, they most likely offend their readers.

Good to see your blog is back
Once there was a young woman named Lily who worked at a prestigious law firm in the city. She was ambitious, intelligent, and driven, and she had worked hard to build a successful career for herself.
But one day, everything changed when a rumor started spreading around the office about a pink dildo. The rumor claimed that Lily had accidentally left a pink dildo on her desk, and it had been discovered by a group of her colleagues.
Lily was mortified when she heard the news, and she couldn't believe that such a personal item had become the subject of office gossip. She tried to ignore the whispers and stares, but it was impossible to escape the shame and embarrassment that came with the unwanted attention.
The pink dildo became a symbol of ridicule and judgment, and Lily's professional reputation suffered as a result. People made snide comments and jokes at her expense, and she felt like she was being unfairly judged and ostracized.
Despite her best efforts to regain her dignity and reputation, the stigma of the pink dildo of shame followed Lily wherever she went. It seemed like no matter how hard she worked or how successful she became, she couldn't escape the stigma of the embarrassing incident.
Finally, Lily decided that enough was enough. She took a stand and confronted her colleagues about the hurtful rumors and gossip. She demanded respect and understanding, and she refused to be defined by the pink dildo incident any longer.
In the end, Lily's bravery and determination paid off. Her colleagues realized the error of their ways and apologized for their hurtful behavior. Lily was able to rebuild her reputation and continue her successful career, free from the shadow of the pink dildo of shame. And she vowed to never let anyone else define her worth or her character ever again.
Even a broken clock is right twice per day... Sharikou has been screaming about Intel going bankrupt for years, over a decade possibly. But now he might finally be correct.
Being right eventually isn't the same as being right.
