Thoughts on AMD's Rembrandt Laptop Benchmarks
AMD is doing so well on all fronts. EPYC is killing Xeon in datacenter.
AMD's more 50% share of the FPGA market will surely generate a multiplicative expansion of its products and market share.
But I am noticing a trend by the reviewers and wondering whether they are being paid by team blue.
In the Rembrandt laptop reviews, those 3 lb AMD laptops are compared to 6.4 pound Intel Alder Lake ones, as if they belong to the same catgeory. This is totally unacceptable. In any laptop, the CPU+RAM+NVME storage has about the same small weight. That 3 pounds of extra weight in the Intel machine is largely for handling the excessive heat and larger battery. The 6.x pound Intel laptop is heavier than some desktop PCs. Anyone carrying such a bulky machine in Starbucks will surely draw some scornful looks from the civilized coffee drinkers, and will probably be pushed outside when its loud fans starts emitting shrieking noises.
Why are reviewers doing such invalid benchmark comparisons? They can't fool their readers, they most likely offend their readers.
