SUN Java does not support EM64T

Go to the Java download page at java.sun.com, there is only Java runtime for AMD64, no support for EM64T. I think INTEL's engineers should work 10 times harder so they can get an AMD64 compatible CPU out.

SUN has a nice online presentation showing the advantage of AMD64 architecture and SUN's Galaxy design at here.

SUN does not officially support EM64T in Java or Solaris 10, so your mileage may vary. While INTEL is talking about future products, AMD delivers today.

If conroe fails, then intel is really in deep sh1t. If AM2 failed, then they have 2007 to come back with 65nm...

AMD has a new core in the working...it's quite ready. But I think AMD doesn't want that to affect sales of current CPUs.
